Self Packing Tips

  • Pack heavy items in small boxes. This includes records, books, canned food, etc.
  • Pack light items in large or extra-large boxes. This includes linens, comforters, etc.
  • Wrap all fragile items in paper individually.
  • Large plates should be placed on their sides with padding at the bottom of the box.
  • Make sure all boxes are sealed on the top and bottom of the box.
  • Always check recycled boxes for appropriate taping.
  • Label the box on the top and side according to room location.
  • Avoid over-packing or under-packing.
  • Pack all boxes to the top; if you have excess room, fill them with paper.
  • For fragile items put a good layer of padding materials at the bottom and top of box.
  • Use newer and sturdy boxes.
